I am the one who can transform the world. I am the one who comes up with new stuffs. I am baffled from the stage around me. I am confused from whom to seek advice and whom to ignore. I am intelligent and sound. They say I am the future but I live in the present. Yes, I am the 50% of India’s population and I am the youth. I get bored so easily and feel useless at times. But, I call my friends for a chit chat and kill boredom. I am on hunt for a job and for a partner too. I hate home food and love to eat in the stalls. I blame the crowded trains but do not like to walk the calm streets. I blame the system to be corrupt and I bribe a cop on a crossing. I do not pay attention on my studies and blame the education system. I love to party and get drunk. I always think for the betterment of poor people but I forget it the next day. I love my parents but want to stay away from their clutches. I am grown up now but still act as a kid. I do things the way I want to. I say this is right when all say it is wrong. Yes, I am the future. But, how?

Hey friends, ‘I’ refer to all of you and not me alone. If you read the above paragraph the way I wanted you to, I fell you got the message..I need good comments. I want to read how you feel…

Recent Attacks in Melbourne.

Rohit, one of my friend give me an advice of writing something ‘HATKE’(different) in my blog. He got bored reading my philosophical thinking. He made a very interesting point in the end. He said, ”Karan, the stuffs you write in your blogs are all taught in schools and colleges which we all have experienced and so I do not find it interesting.” Thanks Rohit for being so critical. We have always liked you for being our GROUP CRITIC.

This made me think a lot. I was totally exhausted after thinking for hours to write something for my blog. Finally, I got one topic related to present scene in Melbourne. THE ATTACKS. The day a student got killed in Melbourne, I called my mom just to convey that I am sound and safe. At the end of our conversation, she ponited out to me saying PLEASE DO NOT WRITE ABOUT ATTACKS IN YOUR BLOGS to which i agreed. But I felt it would be wrong if I would not clear the exact scene created back in India. So here it is.

Well, it is sad to hear that a student got killed in some other country. Sad for his family and friends. It is sad for the people of Australia and it is sad for the RELATIONSHIP between two contries. I feel the media is so much responsible for the havoc created. The thing I hate about Indian media is that they come to a conclusion without going to the crucks of the entire scene. They just make parents back in India more worried. The media omits so many important stuffs for example: The place. The area where this incident happened is a notorious place. So, passing through that area at night time is always risky. Infact, people over here are warned to be careful during late nighta. Most of the incidents happen at such places and the reason why Indian are attacked is because they are a majority and a soft target. I have a friend who stays in one such area and I remeber the day he gets late for returning home, he calls his friend to pick him up safe. I feel in India, Delhi is the closest city where I can relate this scene. It is scary to have a walk at nights in Delhi.

Yes, I do agree there are some incidents of racism but let me clear out one thing, India has racism too. The recent attacks on taxi drivers and the people of UP in Mumbai is a fine example of it. In the past, we have foreigners killed and raped too. My point is simple to my friends in India. Just do not get dragged away to what media says. Yes, there are incidents where people tease and abuse hey but it happens in every country. I have been here just for six months and I have pretty good friends. People are nice infact more worried than we students regarding the situation and show their gratitude and emotions.

In the end just want to say that Melbourne is a nice place and do not create a bad image by comming to wrong conclusions.

My New Year Resolution…Not to make New Resolutions :-)

Hey folks…Happy New Year to all my readers. I can count them on my fingers now. All busy in their own world I guess. I had wonderful time celebrating my new year. But my New Year was a bit different compared to you all. This year I did not waste time making new resolutions. I decided not to have any resolutions for two reasons. First, I spent hours deciding whats negative in me which I do have a lot and secondly, after figuring the negative stuffs I never overcome it and my resolutions remain untouched.

Instead of making resolutions, I just re-planned my goals and wrote it down on a piece of paper. If you are regular reader of my blog, I had written an article about writing your goals down. I followed it and I was amazed to see that it works. I accomplished half of my goals by the end of december which I had planned 3 months back. This is how it worked. Every morning I used to look at the goals on my written piece of paper and just think on it for 10-15 minutes. Easy!!!

So, I finally made a NEW RESOLUTION this year and that is NOT TO MAKE ANY RESOLUTIONS FOR 2010. My advice to start your New Year. Friends, sketch down your goals and start accomplishing it. I had a great 31st night this year and hope you enjoyed too…

Hello…I am writing this blog after a long gap. I was kept busy by my job which made me very tiring at the end of the day and totally exhausted. Its Christmas time and a small little break of 10 days from my job.

“Attitude and Altitude are alike..Both hit back at you when crossed limits! “ I really do not know what made me write the above phrase but it made sense when I wrote it down on a small piece of paper on my way back home from one tiring day at work. Two totally different words but with one parallel quality. Both give immense pleasure to an individual when used suitably but can be equally disastrous when you break the rules. After observing the traits of few leaders my conclusion was that all of them reached great heights in their respective fields but with one common quality i.e Right Attitude. I have a one good example of a leader who reached great heights during his era. The world quaked and trembled by hearing his name. Adolf Hitler. He achieved everything in his life but what was the end result? DEATH!!!Just one reason for his failure. Wrong & Cruel Attitude.

Who am I to comment on this topic where I myself has not seen great success? Well, it is my experience with little small things I had achieved during past which made me write this topic. Having a respectable attitude and reaching your goal is a pleasure. I fight with myslef even today to follow my goal and also have a positive attitude at the same time. I look at my goals every morning and I think whether I had the right attitude in the past to achieve them. Why don’t you try what I said now? May be it can help you. Hey but do not have the false attitude and try to achieve something. It can be of great help for a short term success but it will hit back at you at some stage of your life.

Anyways I will carry on my other stuffs. Hey in my next blog I will talk about christmas. Very excited to see how they celebrate it over here with the beautiful decorations in streets and gardens.

Your Choice…Your Decision…Your Life!!!

A nice thread to start my topic. It emmits different meaning depending on the person’s the nature and the culture. An individual may interpret as living independently. Another person may translate it as a Care Free Attitude. Well, I was in the second category i.e. Care Free Attitude. I said I ‘Was’ and not I ‘Am’. It took me a while to understand the statement.

So what does Choice mean? Choice here means an Opportunity. I feel, life gives equal opportunity to all living creatures on this planet. But how many of them make use of that door? Very few. Most of them do not even notice when an opportunity knocks at their door. They ignore it. My point is simple; try to identify such prospects so that you do not regret it later. People say, Opportunity knocks at the door only once in a lifetime. I feel people who follow this are the people who have identified only one out of the many opportunities offered. Nice point. As a marketing student, we are always taught to seek an opportunity in every customer we talk to. And that is why marketing people still exist in this world.

Decisions are something which falls after you have made choices. Remember what I said before - You have many opportunities. Which one to choose? That is where decision comes into power. All great people in the world have taken right decisions at the right time. Gandhi had made the right decision to help people in South Africa. Imagine if he would have not taken the decision? The spark within him would not have turned to fire and we still would have been under the British rule for a longer time. Our motherland would not have had her ‘Bapu’. Making a decision can even mean forfeiting something in return. I felt this when I made my decision to go abroad. I had to leave my parents, friends and relatives. Toughest decision taken by me so far. But I am getting the fruits of this decision now. The side effects of taking a strong decision are always positive. A whole new and an exciting life have enlightened me. So, start taking decisions on your own. Decisions which you feel are right. You may seek advice from elders and your peers. But it is on you to hammer it.

When I say it is your decision; it also means that you are solely responsible for the decision which may affects you i.e life. Do not blame the person who advised you. Do not complain. Do not point fingers at someone. Let us think the other way round. What if the decision wins you something in return? Do you thank others? Do you give them applause? I do not remember any instances where I have not thanked people because of whom I have earned my past achievements. It makes me feel excellent and energized and also be worthy of some respect.

I have given you my suggestions and my views. After all, It’s Your Choice…Your Decision…Your Life!!! I am not responsible for the consequences. :-)

I got a lot of appreciation for my previous blog. A lot of my writing was insipired from the book which I am reading written by Robin Sharma. Great book for an amateur reader like me.

The title of my current blog says it all. It was written by a former Israeli Prime Minister. Very well said. My parents have always encouraged me to read books which was totally unaccepted by me. I used to hate reading books like most of us do.In my family almost everyone has a reading habit. Even my grandma reads book on daily basis. I think it is her reading habit which has kept her so young even in her 70′s.

So how does reading help? Friends, let me tell you I am the only one who can tell you the the benefits of reading books as I am experiencing it. The way I used to think before getting onto books was totally different and now it has changed drastically. And it is just one book that has made this difference. My attitude towards life has changed completely. You try think more deeper. My sister is exceptionally a good writer which most of you are not aware of. I am sure even she will agree that it is the reading habit which has polished her writing skills. My life is a bit more meaningful now.

So how would a person like me start reading books? Its simple. Start reading books written by people who have always inspired you. It will bring you more closer to life which they lived. You will feel as if your having a conversation with your idol. It is a great feeling. To my surprise I even laugh while reading because you tend to develop a strong relationship with the writer. It is a wonderful feeling. I thank my parents for gifting me the book which I love reading. I should have done this earlier. But as the old saying goes, ‘Better Late Than Never’.

So for all those who still are yet to start reading books, make sure you get one and make it a habit to carry it everyday or you will miss coversations with your IDOLS.

How can you hit a target without having one?

Hey hello people. I just came home after having a yummy dinner at Arun Uncle’s place. We had idli and mutton curry-a mouth watering combination. Lucky to have Arun uncle and his family in Melbourne. Sorry for not writing a blog for almost 2 months. KJ wrote the last blog on this site. I was busy with my studies and also with my shifting.

I am in constant touch with my friends and I came across a very nice topic to share with you which I got it from one of my friend. For me and my friends life changed pretty fast. We all moved in different directions; ready to take on the world. All very excited to step out and ready to conquer our dreams. The first month was exciting. We all shared the same feeling.

Things started to be a little uneasy. I remember Vishal calling me late at night and totally Frustrated. Frustrated from the life he is living. I also remember Tanvi saying that shes is Frustrated with the office work. And I also remember Mehul last night saying this same word again and again. So what is this Frustration all about? It is simple. We are not getting what we want. We are unhappy with our present because the past was so full of joy.Nice Point. In the past we only dealt with people whom we knew.

My dear friends, things have changed now. We are not “IN” Khandwala family anymore but only a ”PART” of it. Try to understand. We all have forgotten our goals which we use to keep talking about. We have stopped working towards our goals. We are just moving with the wind, like the leaves do. Start remembering your goals. Let me ask you one thing, “How can you hit a target without having one?”. Think on it. List out your goals for next 5 years. I am sure you will have a big list and you would even laugh at yourself by thinking how are you going to achieve it. But I am even more sure that at end of five years you will atleast complete half of them if not all of them.Point. Start your day having good thoughts in your mind. So what if its watching a movie or playing cricket? I just want to make a point that ideas come into our minds while doing stuffs which we love.

So next time if someone tells you that watching movie and playing cricket is a waste of time then you can point your fingers at me. I will explain them.

A day came after months of hardwork, yes friends a day when NKBMS organized a ‘MARATHON’. This day was memorable for every student of B.M.S. specially, Minesh who had a terrible time dealing with police for permission for almost 4 months. When Mirage Minds with new range of events was super hit (Monish Sanghvi – A man behind success of Minds); all the committee members and volunteers were tired as one section of Mirage came to an end.

After a successful day we all stood up to make our U.S.P event a Grand Success. I, Dipesh, Minesh, Kumble, Hemang, Mehul and Fenil were all working till 1.30 at night at the foot steps near college gate. When the planning came to an end; we all were hungry & dying to sleep as we didn’t sleep for last two days. We decided to leave college and make our base at hemang’s place for some final changes.

NK students never leave incomplete work and so everyone decided to check every point of road at 2am. They all refused me to take with them as I was looking weak and to everyone’s surprise; I didn’t forced too.

Now, the funniest part start’s from now. I slept at hemang’s place and every one left. They all returned by 3am and I was sleeping like ‘kumbhkaran’. At 3am they were continuously knocking the door but I was in heaven after successful Minds. For 20min they were knocking. They finally dropped in with the help of a duplicate key. Everyone was surprise to see me sleeping blissfully even after so much chaos. When I got up after some time, I saw everyone shouting at me. We all started telephoning everyone so they could reach college by 5.30am. We finished checking every detail by 4.30am and arrived at college. Minesh & Dipesh went to buy the Medical Kit which we all had forgotten and it was the important thing too. We were ready on time and happy to see volunteers arriving at given time. At 6.30am, participants registered themselves for the event and by 7am we were ready to start.

The race begins…

It was a sight worth watching to see all our hard work slowly taking into picture; there were 12 cars, 21 bikes, an ambulance, police fleet and almost 150 students at different check points and with the participants. Malad was guarded by NK students allover. The arrangement in itself was very professional. Mona Mam told me & dipesh to reach at finish point to judge winners, but as always I was so much engrossed in my own world and I could not reach at the right time. We finished marathon of 6.5km in almost 45minutes. The end was distinguished pretty easily as neither me nor the participants noticed any college in Mumbai doing marathon at such a large scale. Back in the college after completion every one was in high spirits, students slept in classes as all were tired. Participants were so enthusiastic that they were ready for the remaining events.

Every event in mirage starts with an idea from a committee member. But it is the responsibility of the whole committee to work as a team and bring that idea into life and reality. “MIRAGE” means An Illusion. Turning an illusion into a reality has always remained the slogan of Mirage right from the year our first batch of BMS started this event 10 years ago.

I hope you recognize all indirect and positive actions.

Hey friends hope you liked my lonavala trip blog…i checked the number of clicks on my the blog and it was around 100 clicks which is really surprising…

You can make out from the pics that in this blog i will be talking about Navratri which every Gujarati is proud of…I always tell this to my mom and my friends that i should have been a Gujarati and not a south indian…Nothing against my community but the fact is, for all my years there have been only gujaratis around me…Be it my neighbors, friends and even the room mates i am presently living with…I love dhoklas, love to eat theplas and even enjoy speaking gujarati…I am always ashamed of myself that I cannot speak my mother tongue…The funny part is I do know to speak fluent gujarati…Me and the gujarati community have this unique connection which makes me enjoy their festival…

Jigar is very fond of this festival and never missed a day when he was in India…So he was very detemined to atleast go for a day for playing this wonderful dance form…He bought the passes and were all very excited…We had started listening to all songs sung by the DANDIYA QUEEN-FALGUNI PHATAK to get into the groove and to have a feel of it…

Hour before the event!!!

The day had finally come and we all were getting prepared…We decided to wear Kurta and we all were looking damn good…It was a 15 minute drive and when we reached the parking area we were shocked to see it FULL…We knew it would be fun from the start…We entered the hall and I could not beleive my eyes…There were around 1000 people dancing and enjoying…You missed our reaction specially the reaction of my friend Jigar…Jigar said to me that he is having a feeling as if he is back in Mumbai…We saw people had formed a circle around the Statue of GOD and were dancing…We wasted no time and joined them…I wish I had the skill to write down my feeling at that moment….

We danced to almost every tune played and my all time favorite “SANEDO”. It was around 11pm and all grabbed their DANDIYAS for the last 1/2 hr…We joined a group and started playin with them…In every blog i have mentioned about girls here in melbourne and my mom always gave me warnings of not to mention such things on my blogs…Indian girls here were really hot(sorry mom)!!!It was fun to dance with them and they were happy to see us too..hihihi…We were exhausted but still we did not stop dancing since we did not want miss anything that night..

Finally, it was the time for POOJA …We took PRASAAD and headed back home…We jumped into our beds and had a nice sleep…Next day we had more fun as it was the last day…

I hope you enjoyed your navratri back in INDIA!!

Unforgettable Trips!!!Lonavala!!Sorry MOM!!

Cruising all the way to lonavala.....

: My family was not aware of this long drive…..had loads of fun!!!

Hey hello friends….i am back with something interesting to share with you all…vishal gave me a nice idea of sharing our good old memories in my blog…thanx vishal….me and my friends in our 3 years of BMS course have travelled loads of places…this is just one of the many trip…There is a reason why i am sharing our lonavala trip on my blog…me, vishal, KJ and rohit wanted to go out for a long drive as we were bugged with college lectures..my friend Vishal; always giving us ideas which are interesting but risky; gave this amazing thought of going for a long drive to lonavala….we all were very excited as we would be going out after a long time…but there were problems too..it was rainy season and it would be difficult to get permission from our parents…vishal, rohit and KJ got the permission but me and mehul knew our parents would not allow us to for a drive when its raining…we had to figure out some excuse so that we could go for this adventerous trip…let me tell you people i am bad when it comes to lieing…but my friend Mehul is the BEST in this field…i feel he has done Phd in Excuses which he masters and practises even today(sorry mehul)..Mehul and me were playing a key role in this trip as he was suppose to provide us with the car(TATA INDICA) and me drive the car…so my friends were counting on me and mehul to make this trip successful…mehul gave a very good and a lie which no parent would dare to say NO…guess what was his lie??it was an INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO L&T in Panvel…i know L&T is in powai but mehul told its panvel because we would get more time with the car…to top it all he also took 1000rs as an entry fee to L&T….hahaha…mehul you rock man!!!now it was my turn to find and excuse..i told mom that i am going to panvel with mehul for his dad’s work and would be back by 11 at night…the next question was, “karan who will be driving the car??” i knew this would be the make or break situation and i replied, “Mom common its panvel..how can i drive the car??ofcoz mehul has got a driver….” and mom without any hesitation granted me the permission…i was so proud of myself…hahaha…finally i had mastered the art for giving excuses…i know its not always good to give an excuse or lie to someone specially to our parents but its okay if you do it for fun and good reasons..

My friends were all very happy and were laughing at me and mehul…anyways we took the car from mehul’s place and headed to the express highway…it was already 11am and we had to reach lonavala by 2pm so that we could have fun in BUSHY DAM…but my navigator, Mr. Mehul Vyas gave me the wrong directions and we were in mumbai till 1 pm trying to find a way out…after discussing and calling a few friends we reached to the express highway…People who have drove their car on pune express highway would know the excitement running through me when the car touched 140 kmph…my right leg on the gas peddal was at its peak but i forgot that the car i was driving was INDICA…we used to call it KHATARA and mehul would always give a back answer saying, “KHATARA HAI PAR KAAM KI HAI….” and it was true…hehehehe….we took a halt for 1/2 hr and filled our stomachs and were having hell of a time…the day which me and friends would never forget…we reached lonavala by 3, enjoyed the weather, took a few snaps and headed towards Ambey Valley..the road to the ambey valley was breath taking…it was really scary….the visibility was only 5 metres and i was having a hard time driving….mehul was constantly cleaning the windshield after evey 2mins so that i could drive easily…i think at that particular moment everyone excpet vishal were scared…vishal was acting stupid by convincing us…but i had to take a decision since i was driving the car…and i decided to head back and gave a red signal…it was my first adventerous drive…the weather was hitting hard on us and we all decided to reach mumbai before 9pm…it was around 6 and we decided to have some snacks…vishal grabbed beer cans to make the drive better…i could not drink it since i was driving and vishal tried his best to tempt me…we all headed towards the highway again and reached home by 10…

I was tired but happy too after this trip…i seriously thank vishal to make me write about this trip…hope you people enjoy reading this blog like we enjoyed our trip…Friends even you can share your such trips by mailing me…and do give me a feedback by adding comments…byee tc…LUV N PEACE….
